Rules & Regulations

1. Circuit Rules

1.1. General

Northern Arena and the circuit administration has the right to overrule against the rulebook in special cases to ensure fair play.

1.2 Conduct

1.3. Matches

Every match needs to be played at the right time on the right day, as specified by the circuit organizer. The bracket will be available on the Northern Arena website and you must follow the following rules. Only the five (5) registered players can participate in a match. A substitute cannot enter mid game. Also no observers are allowed in the game. Only the ten (10) players playing are allowed.

1.3.1. Match Times

Matches must be played at the scheduled time. Teams will have a 15 minutes grace period after their scheduled time to get all of the required players into the server and start the match. If a team fails to join by the time the grace period ends, the other team may request a forfeit win.

1.3.2 Creating the match

The team with the highest seed must create the match and invite the opponent team leader.

1.3.3. Match Results

Each concluded match must be reported by the winning team immediately following the completion of their game. Match reports must include the map score(s) and all results must be reported maximum 10 minutes after the game.

1.3.4. Game break

Teams may have up to a 5 minutes break between each map if they wish to do so.

1.3.5. Disconnect

Northern Arena is not responsible for any in-game disconnections. If this occurs the disconnected player needs to come back to the game as soon as possible. Even if one (1) player left, the match will continue. If one (1) team has a problem with their connection, Northern Arena gives a 10 minutes break in between games to correct the issue. After that delay the match needs to continue. Even if the problem has not been resolved. Northern Arena allows a rehost if needed.

1.4. Game / Client

All external voice programs are allowed (e.g. Teamspeak, Discord etc.) Programs that provide an advantage during game play (e.g. drivers that allow the removing of walls) are forbidden. Any programs that changes the game itself are forbidden.

1.5. Language

The official languages are English and French. Each team should have at least one player that is able to communicate in both.

1.6 Time zone

Every match will be played on EST time

1.7 Match format

1.7.1 Open qualifiers

The Open Qualifier will be best-of-threes in a double elimination bracket. Each match will consist of up to three games, each of which will be first-to-five round wins. If both teams are tied 4-4 after eight rounds, the game goes to Overtime. In Overtime, the first team to get two (2) points advantage will be the winner.
The winning team will receive points based on the result of the best-of-three. A 2-1 match win earns 2 points, but a 2-0 match sweep earn 3 points. Teams will be ranked by points earned with tiebreakers given based on head-to-head record.

1.7.2 Online Circuit

The Online Circuit will be best-of-one round robin. Each match will consist of one game, which will be first-to-six round wins. If both teams are tied 5-5 after 10 rounds, the game will result in a tie.

The winning team will receive 3 points for a win, a tie will result in 1 point.

At the end of four weeks of play, the top two teams advance to the live finals.

1.7.3 Live finals

The live finals will be best-of-five. The match will consist of up to five games, each of which will be first-to-five round wins. If both teams are tied 4-4 after eight rounds, the game goes to Overtime. In Overtime, the first team to get two (2) points advantage will be the winner.

2. Fraud/deception

2.1. Deception

The attempt to deceive admins or other players with wrong or fake statements, information or data will not be tolerated.

2.2. Cheating

All forms of cheating in Rainbow Six Canadian Nationals and Northern Arena matches are forbidden and will be penalized by the Northern Arena.

2.3. Match-Fixing/betting fraud

Engaging in any action that improperly influences the outcome of a game or match by any means is forbidden.

2.4. Doping

Any kind of doping is forbidden.

2.5. Competition manipulation and bribery

Bribing or attempting to bribe a referee or organizer or trying to manipulate the competition is forbidden.

2.6. Consequences

If any of the rules above are broken, if it’s the player’s fault the player will be disqualified from the whole tournament. If it’s the team fault, the whole team will be disqualified

3. Teams

3.1. Teams names

Names which are restricted by law will not be accepted and will be deleted and punished with penalty points if found. Also, names which go against all forms of etiquette and good manners will not be accepted..
The logo must represent the team and have some reference to the team’s name or to the team’s short handle. Copyrighted logos, or logos which go against etiquette and good manors will not be accepted.

3.2. Team nationality

All players on each official team must be Canadian and have residence in Canada.

3.3. Players in team

A player may only play for one team during the tournament. Players must register through the Northern Arena website. We allow five (5) official players and one (1) substitute. Someone that is not in the official six (6) isn’t allowed to play under any circumstances. If two (2) players are unavailable, your team must forfeit the match.

3.4. Age Restrictions

All players participating must be over the age of 18 years old by September 19th 2018.

3.5. Sponsors/Partnerships

Northern Arena reserves the right to prohibit or remove any team if they are associated with any partner or sponsor the may reflect poorly on Northern Arena. This includes but is not limited to drug use or other adult themed products, pornographic, etc

4. Point system open qualifier

The Online Circuit will be best-of-one round robin. Each match will consist of one game, which will be first-to-six round wins. If both teams are tied 5-5 after ten rounds, the game ends in a draw.

Points will be given in the standings to teams based on map result. 3 points for a win, 1 point to each team for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

Ties in the standings will be decided by round differential. Eg. If “Team A” wins 32 rounds and loses 12 rounds, and “Team B” wins 31 rounds and loses 22 rounds, and both teams are tied in standing points, Team A takes the higher placement in the standings.

At the end of four weeks of play, the top two teams advance to the Season One LIVE finals.

4.1 Point system online circuit

At the end of four weeks of play, the top two teams advance to the Season One LIVE finals.

5. Prize Pool

Grand Finals – $15,000

1st Place: $10,000
2nd Place: $5,000
