The league administrator has the right to decide outside or even against the rulebook in special cases to guarantee fair play.
Every match must be played during the exact time and date, as specified by the administrator, to be considered valid (see 1.2.2 for more details on Match Times). Only the registered players can participate in a match. There are no substitutes allowed. Matches must be played at the scheduled time. If a player fails to be present by the time the grace period ends, the other player may request a forfeit win. The grace period is 15 minutes following the scheduled start time of the match. Players may be required to check in with the administrator up to thirty minutes prior to the start time of the match.
Match creation must follow the Official Match Format (see Section 4). Additional rules and details will be provided to all players following registration. All modes and match setting will be defined within the Official Match Format, as well as the accepted stage pool. Neither the map nor the mode can be changed outside of the Official Match Format even if both players agree to do so.

In the event of one player disconnecting mid-game, the game will continue to its conclusion. Northern Arena allows for a 10 minutes technical break in between games to correct any connection issue. Following the technical break, the match must continue, even if the connection issue is unresolved.
All characters publicly released into the live version of the game for at least 30 days prior to the start of match may be selected for official matches. If a new character is released less than 30 days prior to the start of the match, they may not be selected by either player.
All standard fight sticks and controllers are permitted for all official matches. Functions such turbo buttons and wireless controllers other than DualShock 4 are not permitted unless approved by Northern Arena.
In the event of equipment failure which results in a match disruption, the offending player will suffer a round/game loss. Northern Arena allows for a 10 minutes technical break in between games to correct any equipment issue. Following the technical break, the match must continue, even if the equipment issue is unresolved.
The attempt to deceive tournament administrators or other players with incorrect, misleading or false statements, information or data will not be tolerated.
All forms of cheating in Northern Arena matches are forbidden and will be penalized by the Northern Arena.
Engaging in any action that improperly influences the outcome of a game or match by any means, including but not limited to match-fixing and/or betting fraud, is forbidden.
Any kind of doping, the taking of drugs or other substances to provide an advantage, is forbidden. Northern Arena does make concessions for legitimate medical requirements if disclosed prior to the start of the tournament.
Bribing, or attempting to bribe, any Northern Arena staff or other player in the competition is forbidden. Attempting to manipulate the integrity of the competition by any means, including but not limited to coercion or blackmail, is forbidden.
As stated Section 1.2, no registered player may use a substitute during an official match, nor have another player use their account fraudulently during an official match.
If any of the above rules outlined in sections 2.1 - 2.6 are broken, the player will face immediate disqualification from the tournament. Offenders may be subject to barring from future Northern Arena tournaments depending on the severity of the offense. Players may appeal to Northern Arena staff, at which point an investigation will be undertaken.
If a player’s actions results in a match disruption, this will result in an automatic game/round loss.
Players who choose to include a gamertag or nickname as part of their registration are allowed to do so. However, gamertags/nicknames which are restricted by law will not be tolerated. Such accounts will be deleted and punished in accordance with Section 2.7 if found. Furthermore, names which go against all forms of etiquette and good manners will not be accepted. Players may be required to change or remove their nickname if it is found to be against all forms of etiquette and good manners by Northern Arena staff.
If a player is sponsored by any form of company, team or organization, the proper formatting for the sponsor must be provided to Northern Arena staff prior to the start of the tournament.
