Northern Arena has agreed in principle to acquire multi-esports organization Mirage esports.

With this acquisition, Northern Arena will oversee Mirage’s League of Legends Scouting Grounds team, Fortnite players, Overwatch team, NHL esports player and multiple streamers.

Since its inception, Northern Arena has been focused on tournament organisation, TV and digital production.

“Adding an esports organisation and the experience of Yannick Babin as our Senior Vice President, Team Operations will help us grow our content by working with various content creators and players to expand our reach within the esports community across the country and beyond,” says Carl-Edwin Michel, CEO of Northern Arena.

Mirage was founded in 2017 in Montreal, Canada. The organization is known for its presence in the Overwatch scene, where it participated in establishing the Toronto Defiant academy team, the Montréal Rebellion. Mirage has experience in several competitive games, including League of Legends, Rocket League and many others.

“With the experience and expertise of Northern Arena in media production and event organizing and our expertise in esports team management, we believe it is a great partnership to create a sustainable business model around our team that will lead Mirage to become the greatest esports team in Canada,” says Yannick Babin, founder of Mirage esports.

Mirage will also be adding a Clash of Clans team to its organization. Kebec Fury will be playing under the Mirage banner at DreamHack Montréal and moving forward. Kebec Fury is notable for its 4th place finish at the World Championship April Qualifier.

“Our goal is to help amateur players and future pros experience a professional structure around them,” adds Michel. “With our recent partnership, we now have facilities to help future content creators, players and even shout casters grow no matter what path they chose. Obviously, Mirage will not compete in any official Northern Arena tournaments, but we are excited to discover great talent during our events that may join Mirage’s roster in the future.”

More Than a Team

Mirage is more than a team. It  thrives to be a lifestyle brand in the emerging esports Canadian market. The brand will include original apparel, exclusive content, community activities, open tryouts and more.
